Play Euro Board Games in Cardiff
We are a Board Games Group in Cardiff for those wanting to play some fun board games!
The games we play are positive and constructive, with light, easy rules but depth of play and lots of inter-action between players. Some games are competitive, whilst others are cooperative and some are a mix of both and there’s no player elimination. You often have to influence the others by trading or working together. Most games run from 30 to 90 minutes.
You don’t have to know any rules or how to play the games at all as we we do our best to explain – some of the games are new to everyone.
The better known games of the type we play are Carcassonne, Ticket To Ride, and Settlers Of Catan, to which we add many games including Agricola, Saboteur, Trains, Planes and Automobiles, Nuns on the Run, Bohnanza, K2, Dominion and Stone Age.
We meet most Sundays in Chapter to play board games that all can participate in - participation is free. The games are multi-player and social, some are co-operative, playing against the game and not other people - most with no elimination and definitely not like Monopoly.
In Agricola, you're a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. On a turn, you get to take only two actions, one for you and one for the spouse, from all the possibilities you'll find on a farm: collecting clay, wood, or stone; building
fences; and so on. You might think about having kids in order to get more work accomplished, but first you need to expand your house.
- Stone Age
Players struggle to survive the Stone Age by working as hunters, collectors, farmers, and tool makers. As you gather resources and raise animals, you work to build the tools needed to build your civilization.
In K2 each player controls a team of 2 mountaineers, trying to climb to the summit of K2 and return before the other players' teams and before the mountain kills them. You will have to choose your path carefully, as the other mountaineers can block your
way, and watch the upcoming weather which can lower your acclimatization to 0, thus killing your climbers.
This is a cooperative game where players work as a team. The mission is to prevent a worldwide pandemic outbreak, treating hot spots while researching cures for each of the four or five plagues before they get out of hand. Players must plan their strategy
to mesh their specialists' strengths before the diseases overwhelm the world. If disease spreads uncontrolled, the players all lose. If they can cure all four diseases, all win.
